Medical Secretary

Lead in the provision of a comprehensive, professional, effective secretarial and administrative service for the well-being team. The post holder is the first point of reference and must display initiative, mature judgment, and maintain a calm, friendly, and efficient manner when dealing with service users, their relatives, colleagues, and visitors.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure all correspondence is accurately and appropriately presented using current methodologies and medical terminology.
  • Be highly skilled in the full range of secretarial work practices, software programs, and specialised functional terms.
  • Support team members with care notes, guide new users, and provide instruction as necessary.
  • Use proficient internet skills to access, search, and retrieve relevant data.
  • Utilize touch typing, audio, and shorthand skills to produce work efficiently.
  • Complete non-routine tasks daily, meeting the needs of the team.
  • Attend mandatory training and update skills as required.
  • Work independently, prioritizing workload and using initiative to distinguish routine from urgent tasks.
  • Follow guidelines, procedures, and utilize knowledge and qualifications to work autonomously.
  • Participate in annual appraisals with supervisors or line managers.
