A local healthcare provider in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to support a team of Doctors and Nursing Staff. In this role, you'll manage patient administration effectively, produce medical correspondence, and maintain communication within the Hospice. An exciting opportunity has arisenfor a highly motivated Medical Secretary with excellent interpersonal skills tojoin our Team here at Springhill.
You will be responsible, inconjunction with your job-share partner, for providing an effective andefficient secretarial/administrative service to our team of Doctors and NursingStaff.
You will be expected to act on yourown initiative to organise, prioritise and co-ordinate your workload, ensuringthat deadlines are met.
You must have excellent wordprocessing and administrative skills, as well as previous experience of working within a clinical area in a similarrole.
Excellent communication andorganisational skills are essential, as is the ability to maintainconfidentiality and communicate sensitively with a wide range of people, eitherface to face or over the phone, in an appropriate and supportive manner.

The post-holder would be required toproduce accurate, high quality medical correspondence for our medical teamusing copy typing, templates and audio if required.

This role is based at Springhill Hospice, Rochdale.
SpringhillHospice providesthe following palliative care services to the local adultpopulation who are suffering from the effects of life-limiting and terminalillnesses:
A 16-bed Inpatientunit providing 24-hour medical and nursing care.
Hospice atHome Service - supports people whowant to end their days in their own home by providing the support and symptommanagement they need to be able to do so.
A DayTherapies Centre for up to 16 patients, 4-days-a-week, offeringcomplementary therapies (e.g. reflexology, aromatherapy and massage);creative and beauty therapies, social activities and clinical support.
CommunityService - provides specialistpalliative care and support to patients and families in their own homes
A 24-hour PalliativeCare Advice Line for patients, families, carers and health professionals.
Bereavement Support for relatives following loss.
CounsellingServices for patients, carers andrelatives, provided by a qualified therapist.
An EducationUnit - an in-house training facility for hospice staff and local health andsocial care professionals, with the main focus of training being on theSpringhill Palliative Care Education Passport' (SPCEP) which ensures that corepalliative care skills are taught to all grades of staff.
JOB SUMMARY

TASKS
1.Admission,Discharge and Death administration
2.Secretarialand administrative support for all clinical services
4.UpdatePatient Statuses on iCare, the patient records system
5.Inputtingof daily events onto iCare
6.KeepingiCare up to date with patient information
7.Ambulancebookings
9.Maintainingand updating clinical documentation
10.Maintainingstorage of clinical records
11.Undertakeany other duties as appropriate to the role.
GENERAL
1.Attendteam meetings as appropriate.
2.Maintainexcellent lines of communication internally with all visitors, staff andvolunteers; and externally with supporters within the local community.
3.Participatein the Hospices education/training programme, including mandatory training. Attendtraining as required to maintain own knowledge and further develop expertise.
4.Allstaff have a duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves or toothers.
5.Toread, understand and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures, applying theprinciples as appropriate to role.
6.Tobe aware of individual specific responsibilities in respect of the Safeguardingof Vulnerable Adults, in relation to role.
7.Allinformation relating to patients and staff gained through employment withSpringhill Hospice is confidential. Disclosure to any unauthorised person is aserious disciplinary offence under Springhill Hospice Policies.
