Job description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Secretary with a passion for making a difference to others.

You’ll be working full time, 40 hours a week at Cygnet Appletree, helping ensure the safe and smooth running of services for the people in our care.

Cygnet Appletree, near Durham, is a mental health hospital for women that includes Pippin Ward, a specialist PICU service and Bramley Ward, an acute service for women.

Your day-to-day…

  1. Provide a high standard of secretarial support to members of the medical team
  2. Maintain a good working relationship with clinicians & caring professionals
  3. Attend & take minutes at a variety of clinical meetings, hearings & tribunals
  4. Produce high quality admission & discharge summaries & tribunal reports
  5. Type minutes, care plan approach reports & care plan outcomes
  6. Create & maintain patient records & paper files

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is…

  1. Service orientated, with Medical Secretary experience & knowledge of mental health
  2. Flexible, adaptable, organised & responsible
  3. An excellent typist, preferably to RSA 2 level & with audio transcription skills
  4. Calm under pressure & able to work independently & as part of a team
  5. A strong written & verbal communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  6. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word and databases
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
