A local family practice in London is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to provide essential administrative support. Responsibilities include managing patient referrals, typing documentation, and liaising with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in a medical setting and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Blackheath Standard PMS are seeking an experienced, dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to joinour practice. The position is for 20 hours per week, over four days, (Mon, Tues Weds, Fri ) This can vary ,depending on the needs of the practice during sickness and annual leave. Flexibility is essential. The ideal candidate will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial andadministrative duties and the provision of administrative support to themultidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, theprocessing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner,liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers in accordance with currentpolicies, including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS). Thisposition requires excellent organisational skills, a strong understanding ofoffice procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with bothpatients and healthcare professionals.
Duties will include:Typing letters, reports and associated documentation as required(have an understanding the Lexicom system)Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and communityservices, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently,Manage tasks to secretary inbox in an effective manner. Maintain an accurate referrals database. Action all incoming emails to the Blackheath Standard inbox. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanneddocuments to patients healthcare records. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary. Process referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS). Process requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitorsletters and DVLA forms. Answer incoming patient queries relating to referralsManage all administrative queries as necessary. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks asrequested andrecord the minutes of meetings
The Blackheath Standard Surgery is alocal well established family practice.The practice is situated in a pleasantpart of Blackheath in South East London with good transport links and localshops. We are committed to providing a high standard of care under the NHS andare part of the Blackheath and Charlton Primary Care Network to offer access toa wide range of healthcare professionals.The clinical team comprises of 2GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP's, Practice Nurses and HCA's. Clinical Pharmacist,Physiotherapists, Mental Health Workers and Social Prescribers the team issupported by a admin team comprising of Medical Secretaries,Receptionistsand Care Navigators.Our current CQC rating is "Good"

In addition, the Medical Secretary may be requested to partake in audits as directed by the Practice Manager and record the minutes of meetings.
