We are seeking to recruit an experienced medical secretary to join our well-established team.

The ideal applicant will be an experienced typist with strong English literacy skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. You should be confident in using multiple forms of electronic communication.

Main duties of the job
  • Liaising with patients, secondary care, and various clinicians in-house
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently
  • Booking secondary care appointments, typing referral letters, running reports, chasing hospital information, emailing, texting, and managing a large volume of tasks
  • Managing your own workload effectively

We are a large clinical and non-clinical team. The practice is exceptionally busy, and the workload can be intensive.

Working days/hours: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Job responsibilities
  1. Typing letters, reports, and related documentation
  2. Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services to ensure efficient referral processing
  3. Managing all enquiries effectively
  4. Maintaining an accurate referrals database
  5. Handling all incoming emails
  6. Processing calling letters as requested
  7. Scanning patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to healthcare records
  8. Inputting data into healthcare records as necessary
  9. Processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)
  10. Processing requests for information (e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, DVLA forms)
  11. Coding data on the clinical IT system
  12. Answering incoming calls, transferring calls, or handling requests appropriately
  13. Managing all administrative queries
  14. Carrying out system searches as requested
  15. Maintaining a clean and effective working area

Qualifications
  • Grade C or above in English
  • Grade C or above in Maths
  • RSA (or equivalent)
