A healthcare practice in Leeds is seeking a part-time Medical Secretary to manage correspondence, patient referrals, and support GPs. The ideal candidate should have strong typing skills, familiarity with dictaphone work, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a busy environment. This position offers a supportive team atmosphere with flexible hours.
Job summary
We are pleased to release this exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Secretary to take on a position ideal for someone to join us from either a Practice base or direct from a hospital to join our Practice and complement our existing secretarial operaqtion. We are a hardworking, rapidly moving, pro-active, high achieving Practice with two sites on the A64 York Road.
We are looking for a candidate to work 25 to 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday afternoons who possess a good grasp of computer skills as well as sound experience of secretarial work, typing and routine office administration. The ability to work under you own initiative, as well as being part of a team is essential as this is pressured environment. We are looking for the candidate who can demonstrate that they are reliable, competent and have the ability to work in an office efficiently whilst demonstrating absolute patient confidentiality.
You will be able to work with a secretarial manager, demonstrating forward thinking and initiative, secretarial skills and decision-making choices when dealing with patients. Your role is integral to contributing to the safe and smooth running of the Practice.
Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system would be an advantage but not essential as would a broad understanding of the referral system too. Training will be built into the position with a start date in August to September 2025.

Authority, CICA etc.
Correspondence with solicitors dealing with patients accident claim forms.
Photocopy Patient medical records as requested.
Arrange and co-ordinate the Choose and Book system for patients being referred.
Cover Rookwood Avenue Medical Centre when their secretary is on holiday or absent.
Carry out correspondence relating to GP Registrars.
