Role Overview

The Dermatology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide scientific and technical leadership, ensuring professional relationships with external experts. This role promotes a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie by facilitating research and educational initiatives, and supporting medical and scientific requests related to products or therapeutic areas. The MSL will also collaborate with Clinical Operations to assist in clinical studies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain expertise in therapy areas and AbbVie products, including understanding of the competitive landscape.
• Deliver compliant presentations on clinical and scientific topics.
• Organize and participate in external educational and training events.
• Support and facilitate clinical trial programs and publication of clinical data aligned with AbbVie strategies.
• Engage in research activities such as real-world evidence collection and investigator-initiated studies.
• Gather and provide insights into medical and scientific intelligence, including competitor research and medical strategies.
• Identify and develop relationships with external experts.
• Foster external expert advocacy through scientific engagement and involvement in medical affairs activities.
• Organize advisory boards and round-table discussions with healthcare professionals to gather insights and promote scientific exchange.
• Represent AbbVie at scientific congresses, engaging with key opinion leaders and gathering competitive intelligence.
• Contribute to scientific dossiers and collaborate internally to develop data summaries for strategic initiatives.
• Assist in selecting speakers for congresses and workshops to enhance scientific exchange.
• Participate in internal meetings and collaborate across functions.
• Conduct and organize scientific and clinical training for sales and other staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) preferred; relevant undergraduate degrees with experience considered.
• Experience in Medical Affairs or ophthalmology is desirable.
• Strong knowledge in the therapeutic area and medical research.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to compliance, scientific integrity, and quality.
