Job description

Medical Records Disclosure Team Leader (6350)

We're a national law firm with a local reach. Our legal experts are here for you. Whether it's personal or business, we understand that everyone's situation is different. But we're more than just a law firm – we're a team of people working together to help individuals and businesses navigate life's ups and downs. Working here you'll feel a part of our friendly and inclusive environment.

We'll value you for who you are and what you bring. We support each other and push boundaries to achieve incredible things and make a real difference to our clients and communities.

We're always looking to support our colleagues to work in a way that works best for them and everyone else, including our clients, the business and the regulators. Please speak to a member of our Recruitment and Onboarding team for more information.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

As our Medical Records Disclosure Team Leader, you'll lead a specialist team responsible for managing the medical records disclosure process across our Medical Negligence practice. You'll play a key role in ensuring records are obtained efficiently, risks are managed appropriately and disclosure activity is delivered to a consistently high standard.

You'll provide leadership, guidance and support to a team of Medical Records Disclosure Specialists, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery. You'll oversee workloads, monitor performance and identify potential delays or risks before they impact case progression.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external organisations, including NHS Trusts and other records providers, you'll act as an escalation point for complex or time-sensitive issues. You'll use sound judgement to resolve challenges, progress cases and ensure decisions are clearly recorded and compliant with agreed processes.

You'll also be responsible for maintaining robust governance and quality standards, ensuring disclosure activity is accurately recorded, data is reliable and sensitive information is handled appropriately. Using performance data and management information, you'll identify trends, address recurring issues and drive service improvements that support the wider business.

Alongside providing strategic oversight, you'll be prepared to take a hands‑on approach when needed, supporting operational activity during busy periods and helping the team overcome obstacles to deliver the best possible outcomes.

This is a national hybrid position with flexibility around your base location. During your induction and training period, you will be expected to spend more time in one of our offices to support your onboarding, develop key relationships and gain a strong understanding of the role. Once fully established in the role, there will be an ongoing expectation to travel to office locations as required to support training, team engagement, collaborative working and key business initiatives.

About You

We're looking for an experienced leader who can bring together people, processes and performance to deliver a high-quality operational service. You'll be comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities and building effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

  • Experience leading, supervising or coordinating the work of a team within a structured operational environment.
  • Experience managing workloads, priorities and performance to meet deadlines, service standards or operational targets.
  • Ability to make decisions, resolve issues and appropriately esc…

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including handling challenging conversations professionally and constructively.
  • Experience supporting, coaching or developing team members to improve capability and performance.
  • Experience managing operational processes involving external suppliers, service providers or stakeholder organisations.
  • Experience using case management, workflow management or similar operational systems.
  • Experience analysing KPI, performance or management information to identify trends and improve service delivery.
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding or developing colleagues.
