Job Summary

Alderley Edge Medical Practice is seeking an enthusiastic, understanding, flexible, and well-organised individual to join our busy Doctors' surgery as a Medical Receptionist and Practice Administrator. The role involves working on Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 to 18:30 across both our Alderley and Prestbury surgeries.

Our practice has two sites, one in Alderley Edge Village and another in Prestbury Village, serving approximately 8,500 patients. We have a supportive and experienced team of Receptionists, led by our Reception Manager, Rachel.

The clinical team includes 6 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, GP Registrars (depending on rotations), 3 Practice Nurses, and 2 Healthcare Assistants, all dedicated to providing caring support.

The successful candidate will be eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme, receive 20 days of annual leave (pro-rata) including bank holidays, and benefit from various incentives and schemes such as uniform vouchers after one year of service.

Previous experience in a GP Practice is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Main Duties
  1. Coordinating and tracking insurance/form activities, including Subject Access Requests
  2. Managing the practice diary for medical students
  3. Supporting Patient Participation Group meetings
  4. Circulating and recording safety alerts
  5. Supporting practice surveys and collating results
  6. Providing additional cover to admin and reception teams as needed
  7. Answering incoming calls and handling requests appropriately
  8. Processing appointment and repeat prescription requests
  9. Communicating with patients, team members, and external agencies
  10. Inputting data into healthcare records
  11. Managing new and temporary patient registrations
  12. Handling queries efficiently
  13. Supporting clinical staff with general tasks
  14. Scanning and attaching patient documentation
  15. Completing opening and closing procedures as per duty rota

Job Description & Responsibilities

Line Manager: Reception Manager and Practice Manager

Accountable to: Practice Manager or GP Partner in their absence

Hours per Week: Minimum 8

Role Summary: To provide comprehensive reception and administrative support to the GP Partners and Practice Manager, supporting clinical teams by signposting patients, managing insurance reports, scheduling medical students, and supporting finance and research activities. Also, to undertake reception duties, ensuring a polite and professional service to patients, including opening and closing procedures and administrative support.

The ideal candidate will be well-organised, a team player, able to prioritise tasks, with good attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Desirable Experience:
