The role of the medical receptionist is vast and varied. The duties consist of making appointments for patients through a variety of channels, communicating with patients on a day-to-day basis about upcoming appointments, ordering prescriptions, signposting patients to the right clinician, communicating on behalf of a patient to healthcare professionals, scanning and coding inbound documents, and making referrals to other providers. The medical receptionist role is the face of the practice and the first point of contact for the patients; therefore, you must be caring, empathetic, and committed to providing the best service.
