A local healthcare practice in Hetton-le-Hole is seeking a motivated individual to join their team as the primary contact for patients. Responsibilities include managing appointments, answering calls, and maintaining patient records using EMIS Web. Ideal candidates will have experience in Primary Care and strong communication skills. This role is vital for ensuring effective patient service and support within the practice.

The successful individual will work alongside the team to be the central point of contact for the patients either face to face or over the telephone.
Duties include but are not limited to maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system, answering calls, dealing with queries, requesting prescriptions, signposting patients to the correct services, processing of mail, and inputting data into patients records. The successful candidate will be working as part of the team in a fast-paced environment.
Hetton Group Practice is a busy practice with approx 11,800 patients. Our team consists of 5 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Career Start GP, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 3 HCAs alongside our admin team. We are a training practice with GP Registrar rotations on a six-monthly basis and medical students.
To support the team to ensure an effective, efficient, and caring service is provided to all of our patients. Duties include maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system, processing telephone and e-consults for appointments, answering incoming calls, transferring calls, or dealing with the callers' requests appropriately. Signposting patients to meet their needs, initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies. Clinically coding data on EMIS Web, inputting data into patients' healthcare records as necessary, managing all queries efficiently, maintaining a clean and effective working area, and supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested. All activities must be conducted respecting patient confidentiality and data protection policies.

This includes using personal security systems, identifying and managing risks, updating knowledge through training, following infection control procedures, maintaining cleanliness, and reporting hazards. Undertaking periodic infection control training and demonstrating safeguarding awareness.
