Job description

An opening has arisen for a medical receptionistto join our friendly reception team.

The role requires provision of high-quality serviceto patients of the practice, undertaking reception duties to include, but notlimited to:

  • Answering phones and face to face enquiries
  • Signposting patients to the right service at the right time
  • Answering queries made through the practice website
  • Making / cancelling appointments for all clinicians
  • New registrations
  • Promoting use of the NHS app
  • Passing results to patients as requested
  • Liaising between clinicians and patients
  • Opening and closing up

The post will be for up to 37.5 hours per week (preferably over 5 days per week), plus sickness and holiday cover, with the flexibility to cover shifts between Monday - Friday 8.00am - 6pm when required.

Experience in a similarrole may be desirable; however, full training is available for the rightapplicant.

Our Reception team work across three sites: Cinderford Medical Centre, Ruardean Surgery and Westbury Surgery

Main duties of the job

Main Purposeof Job:

To provide an efficient and professional link between the patient andclinical staff.

To offer general assistance tothe practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients andother visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To receive,assist and direct patients in a courteous, efficient and effective way inaccessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional.

To undertake avariety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of thepractice.

To facilitateeffective communication between patients, members of the primary health careteam, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

Our 3 partner practice has a patient population of over 11, 800 patients and a staff of 2 further salaried GPs, 3 ANPs, 1 Paramedic and a full complement of Practice Nurses, HCAs, dispensers, receptionists and admin staff all working alongside a growing number of additional PCN roles.

Based in the Forest of Dean, our Cinderford surgery serves the surrounding town and rural communities. In spacious, environmentally friendly new premises, we occupy the first purpose-built, dementia-friendly surgery in the UK. Patients can also access a full range of services at our branch site in the local village of Ruardean & Westbury-on-Severn

Job responsibilities

Main Purposeof Job:

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

To offer general assistance tothe practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients andother visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
