Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a medical receptionist to join our friendly team.

15 hrs p/w per week, to be worked over 3 days: Wednesday 7:30am-1:30pm, Thursday 12:30pm-6:30pm, and Friday 1:30pm-4:30pm.

We are a well-organised practice in Rastrick, Brighouse, striving to provide high-quality care to our patients. Our growing list size currently exceeds 5000 patients.

Main duties of the job

The role involves greeting patients, answering the telephone, and a variety of administrative duties. Basic computer skills are essential. NHS General Practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne are desirable but not essential.

Flexibility to cover holidays and sickness is required.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

Receive, assist, and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional courteously and efficiently. Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, in person or via telephone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of Practice procedures and adherence to protocols.
  • Faxing, photocopying, and other administrative duties.
  • Reception duties including greeting patients and handling prescriptions.
  • Processing appointment requests and managing patient visits.
  • Updating patient records and handling change of details.
  • Processing repeat prescriptions according to guidelines.
  • Scanning letters and medical records.
  • Managing the telephone system and ensuring building security.
  • Additional tasks such as room clearing, making coffee, chaperoning, and training.

  • Customer care experience dealing with the public.

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
