Job Summary

Lea Vale Medical Group are looking for a Medical Receptionist with experience in customer service to join our Ampthill branch surgery. This is an exciting role as you'd be joining an established non-clinical team that serves over 45,000 patients and is rated outstanding by the CQC.

The role is part time from 7:45am - 1pm

Main duties of the job

Our receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. We are looking for someone who is confident and has an empathetic manner.

Job Description

Job responsibilities:

  1. Make appointments for patients to see GPs, nurses or others.
  2. Communicate with patients, visitors and Practice staff to ensure surgeries run smoothly and on time.
  3. Provide patients, visitors, etc. with basic information and act as a resource, where more help is required.
  4. Operate clinical computer system and maintain high quality data entry.
  5. Communicate with other agencies like transport, phlebotomy, hospital etc.

  • Strong IT and administration skills;
  • Enthusiastic with energy and drive;
  • Reliable and dependable;

Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable but not necessary as full training will be given.

Qualifications Essential

  • Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent

Experience Essential

  • Experience of working in a customer services/other front line situation
  • Computer literate with excellent keyboard skills
  • Self-starter, able to work on own initiative, following set procedures and protocol

Desirable

  • Use of clinical system software eg. SystmOne
  • Previous NHS experience, ideally within a GP setting

Skills and Abilities Essential

  • Advanced working knowledge of Office 365 applications
  • Can plan own work and multi-task

Desirable

  • An enquiring mind with a willingness to learn new skills and procedures
