Job description

Role: Medical Photographer
Contract Length: 3 months
Location: East Grinstead
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £20.06 per hour
Security Clearance: Enhanced DBS

Spinwell is recruiting for aMedical Photographer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEDICAL PHOTOGRAPHER

  • Undertake clinical photography in all surgical specialties (in all locations). Locations include Medical Photography Studio, Operating Theatres, Dressing Clinics, Minor Injuries department, Out Patients, Pre Assessment, Wards, Maxillofacial Unit, Orthodontic department, Corneo Plastic Unit and Burns Unit.
  • Take responsibility for informing patients, relatives and/or carers of the nature and purposes of clinical photography and gaining the appropriate levels of consent.
  • To reassure traumatised, anxious and self-conscious patients and undertake photography with a chaperone present where appropriate.
  • Maintain a process of Continued Professional Development and keep an up to date knowledge of national/ audit standards
  • Co-operate with, and use initiative to direct clinical staff towards the best photographic methods/practices to achieve the optimum result.
  • To ensure the service is provided according to the Trust Photographic and Video Recording Policy and regulations of the Data Protection Act 1998
  • Undertake clinical photography for other health care sites according to requests.
  • Uses effective communication, tact and persuasion with all levels of client including the staff, patients and relatives, taking into account impairments, levels of consciousness, language barriers and time constraints.
  • Fosters good relationships with other departments, the multidisciplinary team and visitors to the unit. Helps to achieve and maintain morale for both staff and patients.
  • Fully understand and operate the Clinical Image Management software, taking responsibility for correct data input prior to uploading images to the Trust-wide intranet viewing system. Note: Clinical Image Management privileges are limited to Medical Photographers and the Office Administrator/Receptionist.
  • 3D Imaging: Fully understand and operate 3D image scanner and associated software. This includes system calibration, data input, image gathering and upload for subsequent clinical use.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE MEDICAL PHOTOGRAPHER

  • BSc or postgraduate certificate in Clinical Photography or able to demonstrate specialist knowledge within this field through practical experience.
  • Eligible for AHCS registration
  • Experience of working in a role that is not directly supervised.
  • Experience of photography in a wide range of clinical settings.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of camera and lighting equipment.
  • Wide knowledge of computer software including advance knowledge of specialised design/ graphics packages.
