Job description

The post holder will become part of a mutually supportive team within the department. The successful applicant will be expected to have continuous responsibility for the patients under their care and undertake administrative duties associated with patient care. The postholder will be involved in the continuous development of the department and will collaborate with the existing team to continue to innovate and provide excellence of care to our local population.


You will be expected to attend and actively contribute to the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will participate in continuing professional development in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. You will also undertake an annual appraisal and job plan review.


It is a condition of employment that so far as is reasonably practicable, all employees must minimise the risk of infection to themselves, colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors. In so doing, you must be familiar with, and adhere to Trust policies on infection prevention and control, including attendance at Trust Induction programmes and statutory education programmes in infection prevention and control.


Managerial:

The post holder will manage clinics treating and providing follow-up care to breast patients.


Participate in all aspects of clinical governance making a significant contribution to multidisciplinary audit and risk management activities. Contribute all required data to the Audit programme.


Provide major contribution to the work necessary for NHSLA assessments.


Assist the Directorate Manager and Clinical Director in undertaking the governance clinical lead role for the service incorporating patient safety and human factors training.


Administrative:

Undertake administrative duties in relation to the care of his/her patients and in relation to the running of the Department.


To undertake general administrative duties within a context of compliance with Directorate and Trust aims and objectives.


Research:

The Trust welcomes and encourages research as a high profile activity that compliments the service provided. The emphasis lies with studies that fall within the National Institute of Health Research portfolio.


Teaching:

Participate in the teaching of undergraduate medical students specifically in the investigation and management of breast patients.


Participate in the clinical supervision of junior medical staff.


Participate in the teaching and training of any other health care professionals.
