Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist – Acute & Locked Rehabilitation Services (South-West Region)

Are you an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist seeking a senior leadership role that is both challenging and highly rewarding? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

A leading independent mental health provider is looking for a Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist to oversee acute and locked rehabilitation services across the South-West region.

About the Role:

As Medical Lead, you will play a key role in clinical governance, service delivery, and medical management across these sites. You will also maintain a clinical caseload at the Exeter service while providing leadership and support to dedicated psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide senior clinical advisory support and contribute to the clinical strategy.
• Lead quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
• Oversee medical management, supervision, and recruitment of psychiatrists.
• Represent the region within national clinical governance structures.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for an inpatient caseload.
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
• Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable).
• Lead clinical governance meetings and service development alongside Hospital Directors.
• Participate in a two-tier on-call system as duty Responsible Clinician.

What We’re Looking For:

• Registration on the Specialist Register for General Adult/Forensic/Rehabilitation Psychiatry with a valid licence to practice.
• Previous medical leadership experience (desirable).
• Right to work in the UK.
