Overview

Under general supervision, performs complex analyses on various sample types, using independent judgment to generate accurate test results. Acts as a lead by managing workflow, mentoring staff, and serving as a clinical and technical resource.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Independently performs responsibilities of MLS I, MLS II, and MLS III.
  2. Leads quality improvement initiatives within a multidisciplinary patient care team. Develops efforts to enhance regulatory compliance beyond the department.
  3. Assists leadership with interviewing, onboarding, training, and supervision. Provides input for performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  4. Collaborates with leadership to identify gaps and opportunities for professional growth and strategic initiatives. Promotes a positive departmental culture.
  5. Supports leadership in resolving complex clinical and operational issues.
  6. Prepares for and participates in regulatory and accreditation agency processes.
  7. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related sciences; or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences, or a related field. Military Laboratory Technician program completion with relevant experience is also acceptable.

Experience: At least five years of clinical laboratory experience.

Licensure/Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent.
