Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) in Bristol. The role offers visa sponsorship and a fixed-term contract within one of the UK's largest NHS trusts, with a competitive Band 3 salary.

You will work across Specimen Reception, Haematology, and Clinical Biochemistry, collecting, sorting, and processing samples, while providing essential data entry support and liaising with biomedical staff. Weekend/night shifts are included.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a laboratory setting, ideally within Specimen Reception, Haematology, or Clinical Biochemistry.
• Ability to collect, sort, prioritise, and process samples in high-volume environment.
• Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software for data entry.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to laboratory policies and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with colleagues, service users, and staff.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and process samples in a busy laboratory environment.
• Assist in analysis of samples under supervision and ensure proper storage post-analysis.
