Job description

We require a conscientious and enthusiastic individual to join the Blood Sciences laboratory team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for maternity cover starting April. The role involves working across different areas within Blood Sciences, with duties including:

  1. Collecting, checking, and labelling specimens
  2. Filing and data input duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and participate in their review and update
  • Prepare, store, and use reagents and consumables appropriately, adhering to COSHH regulations
  • Report quality control procedures and any service failures
  • Handle and use toxic, carcinogenic, harmful, and flammable substances safely
  • Receive and verify the integrity of requests and samples based on the laboratory's Minimum Identification Criteria
  • Check that correct samples have been received
  • Barcode and distribute samples and forms
