Job summary

Ritz Recruitment is seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join a busy laboratory in Watford WD18 for an immediate start. This role is varied and hands-on, supporting diagnostic testing and handling patient samples.

You’ll register patient details, prepare samples, operate lab equipment such as centrifuges and incubators, and keep accurate records while upholding safety and confidentiality. 2-month locum position, £13.50 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Register patient details and test requests on laboratory systems

• Manage phone calls and direct queries to relevant teams
• Process departmental mail, reports, and documentation
• Package and dispatch samples in line with biohazard regulations
• Prepare and process samples for diagnostic testing
• Use laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and incubators
• Maintain stock levels and order supplies when required
• Safely dispose of clinical and hazardous waste
• Clean and maintain laboratory workspaces and equipment

In this varied and hands-on role, you will be at the heart of the laboratory service—supporting diagnostic testing, handling patient samples, and providing excellent customer service to healthcare professionals and patients.

What We’re Looking For
