Job summary

A local healthcare provider in Clitheroe is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support the laboratory team. Responsibilities include processing patient samples and using the laboratory computer system. Ideal candidates will be flexible and open to training, as full guidance will be provided. The role includes rotating through different laboratory sections with scheduled hours in the evening.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Flexibility to cover absent colleagues will be expected.

Job description
Overview

2 x 18.75 Hours - Permanent post. Monday-Friday - 4.15pm - 8pm

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the team in processing patient samples.
  • Use the laboratory computer system (Clinisys LabCentre).
  • Rotate through all sections of Specimen Reception and the Blood Sciences laboratories.
  • Participate in the department's out of hours service (24 hour working – 7 days per week) as required; payment for out of hours working is at Agenda for Change rates.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Previous experience is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
  • The laboratories are fully equipped with Roche Cobas, Sysmex XN, Werfen TOP, Tosoh HPLC analysers, Diasorin Liaison and Ortho Vision analysers; fully computerised (Clinisys LabCentre system); fully UKAS accredited and HCPC approved for training.
  • The Blood Sciences Laboratories processes around 900,000 patient samples per year and supports an active Clinical Haematology service.
  • Flexibility to cover for absent colleagues will be expected.
