Primary Function
Responsible for analyzing, evaluating and interpreting various specimens for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical conditions.
Responsibilities
-Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform specimen collection and other specimen handling duties as needed.
-Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance and troubleshooting.
-Perform and analyze quality control procedures including daily testing, recording, problem resolution and compiling reports to assure accuracy of all results.
-Review and verify the accuracy of tests results before entering into information system. Investigate unusual test results and report clinically significant information appropriately. Interpret results when requested.
-Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.
-Assist in instructing new employees to learn established lab procedures and practices.
-Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
-Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specification
An Associate’s degree in Medical lab Technology and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. ASCP or NCA is also required.
