Introduction

Join Middlewood Clinic in Midhurst as a Mental Health Act Administrator and enjoy a career where you are valued and supported to be the best you can be.

Working 30 hours per week alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating First Tier Tribunals Section Renewal and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for service users. This includes preparing and arranging paperwork to support the meetings.

As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will process hearings for Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers Reviews. Your responsibilities include notifying all parties, obtaining reports, negotiating hearing dates and venues, and providing and processing documentation in line with the MHA Code of Practice and procedures.

As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will be:

  • Attending Managers Review Hearings as the MHA Administrator/Clerk, ensuring the review satisfies legal requirements of fairness, reasonableness, and lawfulness.
  • Following up on MHA action points included in Care Quality Commission reports following clinical visits.
  • Liaising with consultants and nursing teams to update service users on renewal of sections and consent to treatments.
  • Providing information to service users about their access to Independent Mental Health Advocacy Services (IMHA).

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Confidence to liaise and advise a wide range of professionals.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and current case law relating to the Act.

Location: Little Ashfield, Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 9JP

Middlewood Clinic provides care and treatment for men and women with eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and atypical eating disorders. Our approach aims to restore healthy body weight and address psychological issues during treatment.

The multidisciplinary team (MDT) includes the Registered Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nurses, Healthcare Workers, Psychologist, Dietician, Occupational Therapist, and Social Worker.

The hospital features 12 comfortable ensuite bedrooms and various communal and recreational spaces, including lounges, a dining room, activities room, visitors room, therapy rooms, a therapy kitchen, and a garden.
