Job summary

Alexion London is seeking a Medical Ethics Manager to support UK & Ireland Rare Disease in line with ABPI/IPHA Codes. The role involves serving as Nominated Signatory, guiding cross-functional teams, and operationalising ethics strategy with AI-enabled review tools while ensuring patient safety and data protection.

Qualifications

• Registered Physician or Pharmacist eligible to act as a Nominated Signatory.
• Experience in Medical Affairs, medical review, signatory, compliance or related pharmaceutical role.
• Experience managing processes, competing priorities and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to use approved digital or AI-enabled tools responsibly and protect confidential information.
• Strong working knowledge of the ABPI Code and relevant UK pharmaceutical requirements.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including evaluation of scientific evidence, claims, context and risk.
• Clear, pragmatic written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex requirements to varied audiences.
• Effective stakeholder partnering, influencing across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
• Learning agility and curiosity about rare disease and evolving standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver medical ethics and Code support for UK & Ireland Rare Disease, enabling innovation while protecting patients and company reputation.
• Act as Nominated Signatory for materials and meetings with accountability for cross-portfolio work.
• Operationalise the Medical Ethics Lead’s strategy through review, guidance, training and process management.
• Identify AI use cases and ensure meaningful human review and data protection.
• Build understanding of rare disease portfolio, specialist care pathways and stakeholder needs in line with ABPI/IPHA Codes.
• Coordinate approved third-party signatory support and assist with complaint responses under direction.
