Applications are invited for the position of Medical Education Simulation Fellow at UCLH
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Simulation Fellow to work on simulation-based projects designed to support medical education across our NHSE sponsored training programmes. The role is available to doctors at CT1-ST4 level (or equivalent) and would suit someone with a keen interest in medical education wanting to develop as a clinical educator within the exciting and fast-growing field of simulation.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be well supported by the simulation team to achieve the intended goals of this post and will be encouraged to present the results of their work to medical education/simulation conferences. Funding is available towards the cost of a formal medical education qualification.

Person specificationKnowledge and QualificationsEssential criteria- Medical degree
- Completion of Foundation Training or equivalent
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
- Satisfactory progression through training
- Valid Immediate Life Support certification or equivalent
Desirable criteria- Valid Advanced Life Support certification or equivalent
- Postgraduate Qualification in Teaching/Medical Education or equivalent experience
ExperienceEssential criteria- Active involvement in medical education
- Teaching experience across a range of settings
- Experience of simulation as a delegate/faculty
Desirable criteria- Evidence of innovation in the development and delivery of teaching/educational initiatives
- Experience conducting audit, evaluation or research
- Presentations of work at local/national meetings/publications in peer reviewed publications
Skills and AbilitiesEssential criteria- Able to assess and manage acutely ill patients
- An understanding of simulation-based education
- Able to teach and facilitate in a multi-professional setting
- Proficient in using Microsoft Packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams) and equivalent web-based applications.
- Effective organisation and time management skills and ability to manage simultaneous projects and work to agreed deadlines
- Able to work autonomously; proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Able to work effectively as part of a team, and knows when to seek advice and support from others
