The Medical Copywriter helps develop commercial content to drive awareness and engagement of a wide range of clients. Working mostly within the Advertising Business Unit but across all three BUs, you’ll be comfortable developing relationships with clients, using your expertise in analysing data and rhetoric to pick out the most compelling scientific story from abstracts, papers and medical information. You’ll love research and writing accurate and engaging scientific copy about a variety of subject-matters, quickly acclimatising to new and diverse therapy areas at short notice and collaborating within the creative department to ensure concepts and ideas are scientifically solid.
You’ll have a strong team work ethic, creative flair, excellent scientific writing skills and be driven to integrate commercial narrative in the scientific commercial world, ensuring high-level work is on time and to budget.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Demonstrate a proven ability to shape and execute scientific copy strategy, understanding how it drives deliverables and aligns with broader business objectives.
- Ability to blend scientific knowledge and commercial awareness with passion and creative flair.
- Development and execution of scientific copy and associated written craft across multiple channels, ensuring the highest level of excellence and consistency.
- Effectively manage multiple, often complex, projects with competing deadlines, prioritizing and delegating tasks to ensure seamless project flow.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including creative copywriters, art directors, developers, and UX/UI designers, acting as a senior scientific copy resource to solve challenges and ensure alignment.
- Actively participate in internal reviews and client presentations, clearly articulating scientific rationale, providing strategic insights, and making recommendations.
- Experience of writing about a range of scientifically complex subject-matters across medical subjects and disease areas.
- Ability to analyse a company, product, content piece or raw data to find a story and hook.
- Passion for transforming data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate issues to relevant colleagues in a timely and accurate fashion.

Qualifications / Experience
- 2–3 years of medical/scientific copywriting experience, ideally within healthcare communications or a similar fast-paced agency environment.
- Strong scientific knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in life sciences.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agency setting.
- Ability to develop, craft, and present work effectively to clients with confidence and clarity.
- Ability to present scientific/medical rationale in client presentations.
- High attention to detail, resilience, and flexibility.
- Proven experience writing across diverse projects, campaigns, and brands.
- Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
- Well-organized with strong multitasking and deadline management skills.
- Skilled in producing high-quality copy in response to briefs.
- Passion, enthusiasm, and integrity for producing outstanding work.
