Welsh is ESSENTIAL for these posts, applications will not be considered from non-Welsh speaking candidates. A fantastic opportunity has become available to join our busy Non-Emergency Transport Call Centre.
The Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service is responsible for providing non-emergency and pre-planned transport to and from hospitals and treatment centres for patients who have appointments at outpatient clinics, day surgery units, and day centres. The service acts as a vital link between communities and is an important part of the healthcare provided by the Ambulance Service in Wales.
The successful applicant will have a positive attitude, demonstrate teamwork, possess excellent communication and active listening skills, and ideally have experience in a customer-focused environment.
We currently offer 37.5-hour permanent contracts at two South Wales sites: Cwmbran and Swansea. The successful candidate will work hours between 0800 and 1800 on a rota basis to meet service demands.
The successful post holder will work within a team handling all telephone enquiries from patients and hospitals regarding Non-emergency ambulance transport. Responsibilities include processing calls from the public and hospital staff requesting non-urgent ambulance transport, assessing the most appropriate transport method based on established criteria, and accurately processing these requests using the Trust's databases. Duties also involve checking systems for booked transport, inputting requests, identifying arrival times, and supporting the planning and day control teams within the NEPTS department.
This position requires quick and accurate data entry on a computer system; therefore, excellent keyboard skills are essential. The applicant should be competent in task execution, have good interpersonal skills, be well-educated, and possess strong typing and IT skills.
Knowledge of geographical areas across Wales is advantageous, and the ability to converse in Welsh is essential for these posts.
