Overview
Under general supervision, to perform work supporting the primary care provider and team by providing patient care, assisting with procedures, patient follow-up, and maintaining patient flow. Interacts with internal departments, businesses, insurance companies, and billing services.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
- Assist in urgent and emergent medical situations, operate emergency equipment.
- Assist provider with patient follow-up processes, including referrals, labs, and patient education materials.
- Manage patient flow to ensure efficient use of rooms and minimize wait times.
- Clean, prepare, and stock patient exam areas and workstations.
- Maintain ambulatory equipment, instruments, and supplies; assist in cleaning and sterilization; maintain inventory of medical supplies.
- Document patient care information in the medical record following policies and procedures.
- Obtain vital signs, identify reason for visit, and prepare patients for examination.
- Perform basic testing procedures (e.g., EKG, urine dipstick, pregnancy tests) and administer injections as ordered by the physician.
- Prepare and support patients and assist providers with medical procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required.
License/Certification:
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through a recognized association required within 60 days of hire (unless hired before 12/31/19).
- BLS Certification required.
