Description

Job Objective: The Medical Assistant is responsible to the Director of Nursing for rendering nursing care in assigned areas based on individual patient needs, utilizing nursing techniques, procedures, and standards according to their education and training. Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to support CCWV quality initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Use your basic MA training to safely provide primary preventative and therapeutic care, documented with positive patient outcomes.
  • Perform delegated CCWV procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Assist in developing patient/caregiver care plans based on identified needs.
  • Accurately carry out provider orders and document interventions.
  • Complete selected patient care tasks safely.
  • Administer medication accurately and monitor patient responses.
  • Perform venous blood draws.
  • Maintain effective communication among patients, caregivers, staff, and providers.
  • Provide health education to patients and caregivers, documenting responses and understanding.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers as needed.
  • Record patient history, vital signs, and social determinants of health.
  • Document exam results, lab findings, and outreach efforts thoroughly.
  • Ensure equipment is checked, sterilized, and maintained properly.
  • Manage stock supplies and medication inventories.
  • Counsel patients on medications and handle clinical calls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Patient Satisfaction

  • Show empathy, respect confidentiality, and communicate courteously with patients and families.
  • Handle inquiries and assist callers professionally.

Teamwork

  • Assist in training new team members and work cooperatively.
  • Be flexible with site assignments and staffing needs.

Problem Solving

  • Use sound judgment for abnormal findings and patient concerns.
  • Follow safety and maintenance procedures.

Productivity/Efficiency

  • Prioritize tasks and minimize non-productive time.
  • Organize work areas for efficiency and take initiative in decision-making.

  • Know and follow all departmental policies and infection control procedures.
