Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a clinical support professional to assist physicians and care teams with a range of tasks from pre-visit prep to scribing and vaccine administration.

You will help with front-office operations, maintain patient records, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and compassionate patient experience. A medical technician credential and BCLS are required; a $2,500 sign-on bonus applies for eligible hires.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years clinical experience.
• Medical Technician Registration or MA Certification.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties: pre-visit prep, vitals, medication reconciliation, and assist providers.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments; stock exam rooms for patient care.
• Respond to patient calls and portal messages per workflows.
• Administer vaccines and process prescriptions using standing orders and protocols.
• Schedule tests and follow-up communications with patients.
• Support front-office tasks: check-in/out, scheduling, phones, records, and copays.

Provide support to the practice in the functional areas of clerical, clinical and business under the direct supervision of a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Physician.

Job Description:

$2,500 sign-on bonus available for eligible hires. Bonus amounts for positions under 40 hours per week will be prorated. Per diem roles are not eligible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform clinical duties, including pre-visit preparation, obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, and assisting providers with examinations and procedures.
• Clean, prepare, and process instruments for sterilization and ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready for patient care.
• Respond to patient phone calls and portal messages in accordance with established workflows and messaging protocols.
• Utilize standing orders and protocols to complete pre-visit work, close gaps in care, administer vaccines, and process prescription refills.
• Schedule diagnostic testing, pre-admission appointments, and provide follow-up communication with patients as needed.
• Support front-office operations, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, answering phones, managing records, and collecting copays and patient balances.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with patient confidentiality, safety, infection control, and quality standards.
• Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with providers and care team members to support effective communication and patient care.
• Perform medical scribing duties when applicable, including documenting patient encounters, ordering labs, processing referrals, and preparing prescriptions as directed by the provider.
• Monitor and support care team quality metrics and performance improvement initiatives.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while contributing to a positive and efficient patient experience.

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $29.49

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
