Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
2. Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
3. Supports effective communication with patients and families.
4. Collaborates with administrative and operations staff.
5. Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
6. Assists patients and families with preparation for examinations.
7. Assists the physician or APP during examinations and procedures.
8. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
9. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medications.
10. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and education according to policies.
11. Acts as a liaison for scheduling and provides information for testing and consultations.
12. Processes calls professionally using sound clinical judgment.
13. Enters medication, laboratory, and imaging orders into the electronic system under provider direction.
14. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
15. Maintains safety practices and infection control standards.
16. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
17. Adheres to all policies and procedures.

1. Provides age-specific patient care and assesses data accordingly.
2. Awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved school or at least one year of applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant.

Licensure/Certification

• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• Current certification or registration from an approved agency such as NHA, AAMA, AMCA, NCCT, NAHP, AMT, ARMA, or AAH. Certification from other recognized agencies will be considered case-by-case.
