ALS in Sittingbourne is hiring a Laboratory Media Technician to join our Microbiology team. In this hands-on role you will prepare high-quality media for microbiological testing and support daily laboratory operations.

This full-time permanent position offers 4on/4off shifts (9am–9pm), a salary of £26,867 plus £2,000 location allowance, and a supportive environment with opportunities to develop in Life Sciences.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in scientific subjects preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good analytical and numerical skills.
  • Motivation to work in a dynamic and client focused workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work allocated without deviation from the documented methodology and / or procedure whilst maintaining high levels of quality control.
  • Perform daily quality control checks and calibrations.
  • Notify laboratory management if any stocks require replenishing.
  • Ensure that the media preparation areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Remove waste frequently and dispose of it in the correct manner.
  • Ensure that all records are completed concisely and accurately with handwriting.
