Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a Media Relations Officer to protect and build the council's reputation. You'll handle media enquiries, secure positive coverage, write press releases and statements, and advise officers, senior leaders and elected Members.

You will develop compelling stories, build relationships with journalists, and help deliver campaigns that support council priorities. Some out-of-hours work and on-call rota participation is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in media relations, journalism, PR or communications in a large organisation.
• Ability to write media releases and statements.
• Strong ability to translate complex information into clear content.
• Experience handling sensitive and complex issues.
