National Grid is hiring a Media and PR Officer, ET for our Corporate Affairs department in Warwick, UK with a mix of hybrid and on site work.

About the Role

National Grid Electricity Transmission owns the electricity transmission network in England and Wales and makes sure electricity reaches homes and businesses safely, reliably and efficiently. We help to connect you to the electricity you use - every time you plug in your phone or flick a switch, we've played a part.

Our Corporate Affairs team tells our story externally, promoting our work with important stakeholders and helping to enhance and protect our reputation.

This role will focus on supporting ET's Customer and Network Development team, and Infrastructure Delivery team, to bring to life the delivery of our capital projects.

This Media and PR Officer will work as part of a high performing National Grid Communications and Brand centre of excellence, bringing the best of our expertise to showcase the infrastructure projects we are delivering, telling our story and building our reputation to support our wider programme of projects going forward.

What you'll do
  • External communications across a wide variety of projects and initiatives, to support the Customer and Network Development, and Infrastructure Delivery teams.
  • Part of a fast paced busy press office, delivering proactive positive stories and responding to a high volume of media enquiries
  • Take part in an on-call rota for out-of-hours and crisis management
  • Support the communications team producing content for social and digital media
  • Support the approval process for external activity and materials, including awards and case studies
  • Support with developing key messages and lines to take for colleagues attending external engagement and events
  • Stay informed about industry trends, media coverage, and public sentiment to provide strategic insights to executive leadership.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, both internally, and with journalists and industry partners, to enhance National Grid's reputation
What you'll bring

Experience in corporate communications or public relations, preferably within the energy, utilities, or construction sectors. Specifically, media relations experience, preferably within a utility or regulated organization. Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders. Ability to manage high-pressure communications situations and provide support to executives.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with communication tools and platforms.
