The Role:

As a Teacher of Media and Film Studies, you will have the opportunity to shape the creative minds of Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 students, guiding them through the exploration of film theory, media literacy, and the art of visual storytelling. From analysing cinematic masterpieces to producing their own multimedia projects, you will empower students to critically engage with the world around them and express themselves through the language of film and media.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver dynamic and interactive lessons that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness
  • Introduce students to key concepts in film theory, media analysis, and production techniques through a diverse range of media texts and platforms
  • Facilitate hands-on practical activities, workshops, and film screenings to enhance students' technical skills and aesthetic sensibilities
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to express their unique voice
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the media and film studies curriculum and contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, with a specialization in Media Studies, Film Studies, or a related field
  • Proven experience teaching Media and Film Studies to students in Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for exploring the intersections of culture, society, and technology through the lens of media and film
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and creativity
