Job summary

Steatite Limited in Leominster, Herefordshire, is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join the engineering team. You will develop advanced antenna positioning systems, collaborating with RF, Mechanical, Electronic and Software engineers, and with Production and Commercial functions to deliver reliable solutions.

The role involves motor sizing, design reviews and supporting production testing, with a site-based, full-time arrangement. Defence and harsh environments experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience within electromechanical design, robotics or automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A hands‑on and flexible approach to engineering.
• An Engineering degree, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Eligibility for SC Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead motor sizing, control system selection and supporting design activities.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering documentation.
• Support software and GUI development for product control systems.
• Undertake prototype assembly, testing and validation.
• Participate in design reviews and engineering change processes.
• Support production testing and reliability documentation.
• Work collaboratively across Engineering, Production and Commercial teams.
• Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and company quality standards.
