Job summary

Steatite Antennas in Leominster is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design from concept to production. You will work with RF, mechatronics and production teams to deliver robust, manufacturable antenna systems for demanding environments.

The role emphasizes taking responsibility for design integrity, leading reviews, and mentoring other engineers while developing specialist products for real-world use.

Qualifications

• Significant mechanical design/development experience within an engineering environment.
• Experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, design standards and configuration control.
• Experience supporting design reviews and verification/validation activities.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems through analysis, design iteration and testing.
• Experience working collaboratively across different engineering disciplines.
• Good understanding of design for manufacture and transition from prototype into production.
• Confidence to provide technical guidance and mentor other engineers.
• Experience within antennas, RF, defence, aerospace or complex electromechanical product development is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of antenna products and subsystems on assigned programmes.
• Take ownership of complex mechanical design tasks and engineering work packages.
• Develop robust solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Produce and review engineering drawings, designs and technical documentation.
• Support design reviews, verification, validation and qualification activities.
• Work closely with RF, mechatronics and production engineering to ensure designs are fully integrated and manufacturable.
• Support prototype builds and the transition of new designs into production.
• Investigate and resolve complex design and build issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Mechanical Engineers.
• Contribute technical expertise to customer discussions, bids and proposals.
