Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join our West Midlands-based engineering team. You will help develop cutting-edge antenna positioning systems and bespoke electromechanical solutions for defence, government, and commercial applications.

You’ll be involved through the full engineering lifecycle—from concept and design to prototype development, testing, validation, and production, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable products in challenging

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
• Experience with CAD packages such as SolidWorks would be beneficial.
• Defence, military or harsh‑environment applications experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative electromechanical antenna positioning systems and customer-specific solutions.
• Support motor sizing, motion control and control system selection.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Assist with software and GUI development for product control systems.
• Build, test and validate prototypes.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support production testing, reliability activities and quality standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechatronics Engineer - Antenna Systems, Defence

You’ll be involved throughout the entire engineering life cycle, from initial concept and design through to prototype development, testing, validation and production.

As a Mechatronics Engineer, you’ll:

• Develop innovative electromechanical antenna positioning systems and customer-specific solutions


• Support motor sizing, motion control and control system selection


• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation


• Assist with software and GUI development for product control systems


• Build, test and validate prototypes

• Collaborate closely with engineering, production and commercial teams to deliver exceptional products

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Mechatronics Engineer - Antenna Systems, Defence

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, takes a hands-on approach to engineering, and thrives in a collaborative environment. Experience with CAD packages such as SolidWorks would be beneficial, along with an engineering degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience within defence, military or other harsh‑environment applications would be an advantage, but it’s not essential.

This role is subject to successful completion of SC clearance prior to commencement.
