About Azenta Life Sciences

Azenta Life Sciences develops low-power automated equipment for bio-sample management, including decapping/recapping machines. We are seeking a skilled Mechatronics Engineer to join our small, dynamic team. This role involves developing new products and maintaining existing designs.

Responsibilities

1. Specify and test small DC and stepper motors.
2. Design control systems, ranging from microcontroller-based to off-the-shelf solutions.
3. Take ownership of significant portions of machine design.
4. Support service personnel and configure machine settings for new labware types.
5. Assist manufacturing engineers in creating factory test procedures.

Qualifications

1. Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or similar; equivalent experience considered.
2. Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics, schematic reading, and design.
3. Experience programming microcontrollers in C; Arduino experience acceptable.
4. Understanding mechanical systems and engineering drawings.
5. Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
6. Ability to design and build prototypes quickly.
7. Familiarity with controlling stepper and small DC motors.
8. Experience with 3D modelling, 3D printing, or similar tools.
9. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
10. Self-motivated with a passion for engineering.
