Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Working Supervisor for a hands-on role in the water and wastewater sector. You will supervise on-site mechanical works, lead fitters and site teams, and remain actively involved in installation, maintenance and repair tasks.

You'll work with pumps, valves, gearboxes, motors and pipework, ensuring safety and high quality standards while monitoring progress and coordinating activities.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering experience required.
• Experience with pumps, valves, gearboxes, motors and rotating machinery.
• Water or wastewater industry experience is advantageous.
• Hands-on supervision with site teams and engineers.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Supervisor looking for a hands‑on role?

Or are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter ready to take the next step into supervision?

If so, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

We are looking for a Mechanical Working Supervisor to join a growing engineering business delivering mechanical installation, maintenance and refurbishment projects across the water and wastewater sector.

This is a genuinely hands‑on role. You'll lead from the front, supervising mechanical works and site teams while still getting involved with the tools and engineering work yourself.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supervising and coordinating mechanical works on site.
• Leading and supporting Mechanical Fitters and site teams.
• Remaining hands‑on with mechanical installation, maintenance and repair work.
• Working on equipment including pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes and pipework.
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Monitoring progress and coordinating activities on site.
• Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Supporting project delivery across water and wastewater sites.
• Leading by example and maintaining excellent health and safety standards.

Experience within the water or wastewater industry would be highly beneficial, although we are also interested in candidates from industrial engineering, manufacturing, utilities, process engineering or heavy engineering backgrounds.
