A great opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Test Technician / Mechanical Test Engineer to join a specialist engineering test facility in Fareham. This role suits a hands-on technician or mechanical test engineer with experience in laboratory testing, vibration systems, climatic chambers and electronic data capture.

You’ll work within a dedicated team delivering high‑quality environmental testing services across multiple industry sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience in a test laboratory environment.
• Experience operating vibration shaker equipment is desirable.
• Knowledge of climatic chambers and environmental testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical and environmental testing to defined standards and test plans.
• Operate vibration shaker and climatic test equipment.
• Record results using electronic logbooks and produce clear test reports.
• Liaise with customers during attended testing and support test plan development.
• Support method development and documentation updates.

This role suits a hands‑on technician or mechanical test engineer with experience in laboratory testing, vibration systems, climatic chambers and electronic data capture.

You’ll work within a dedicated team delivering high‑quality environmental testing services across multiple industry sectors. The position is ideal for a detail‑driven mechanical test engineer who enjoys problem‑solving, working to defined standards, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting mechanical testing to defined standards and test plans
• Operating vibration shaker and climatic test equipment
• Recording results using electronic logbook systems and producing clear test reports
• Working directly with customers during attended testing
• Supporting the development of test plans and test methods
• Liaising with supervisors to ensure accurate, timely completion of work
• Contributing to process improvements and documentation updates
• Experience in a test laboratory environment

Highly Desirable

• Practical experience operating vibration shaker equipment
• Understanding of laboratory quality procedures
• Motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Flexible approach to overtime, ad‑hoc shifts or customer‑site work
• Strong numerical, logical and analytical skills
• Good IT capability (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Able to work independently or as part of a team to defined deadlines
• Clear communicator with strong customer‑facing skills
