Job summary

The Pirbright Institute is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join a small team responsible for the maintenance of building services and high containment systems. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant, document activities, and support installations and upgrades within a regulated scientific estate.

You will contribute to safe and efficient operations, work with contractors, and participate in an on-call rota as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Experience with planned and reactive maintenance in commercial/industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements for maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical plant, equipment and building services systems.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and perform repairs safely and promptly.
• Diagnose faults and identify corrective actions.
• Support installation, replacement and modification of mechanical equipment.
• Maintain maintenance records and CMMS documentation.
• Escalate issues to the Lead Mechanical Technician as needed.
• Support on-call rota and out-of-hours maintenance when required.
