Manufacturing Technician

Based: Irlam, Manchester - with International travel

Would you like to contribute to bespoke engineered systems for customers developing next-generation drug therapy and medical solutions?

The Manufacturing Technician will be engaged in the assembly of Azenta’s Sample Stores, BioStores, and related sub-assemblies.

Candidates will require a general level of engineering knowledge with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

What you'll be doing

  • Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing work, rework, testing, and troubleshooting related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final system assemblies.
  • Conduct customer site installations focusing on the mechanical assembly of systems.
  • Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
  • Assist in developing methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings, and/or diagrams to control or modify the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities to enhance productivity.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems.
  • Provide guidance to other non-exempt personnel and potentially lead or supervise activities within a team lead role.
  • Perform ad-hoc functions required by the team.

What you'll need

  • HNC or further education to City and Guilds level or served a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly of basic mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PC-based software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience working within a Health & Safety management system.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and wiring diagrams is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
