Thames Water is hiring a Mechanical Technician for Mill Green STW to ensure safe, efficient operation of equipment. You will work 38 hours weekly, with standby and overtime opportunities that can boost earnings and participate in essential training.
You will perform proactive and reactive maintenance on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps and control gear, while adhering to health and safety procedures and contributing to energy and environmental goals.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Mill Green STW. As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to assist in keeping such a site running.

Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents. You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required. Examples of equipment that you will be working on include motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable, chemical handling, and dosing equipment. Completing statutory checks as required. Always working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
38 hours per week Monday-Friday. 7:30 am - 3:36pm Plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
All PPE, tools, a company van and a fuel card are provided.
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is: ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial. The work will require physical fitness, as you will work in confined spaces with the successful completion of the appropriate training. A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, is provided.
