About the role:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Abbey Mills Sewage Works. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at our waste treatment works operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, helping keep the site running smoothly.

This role offers a chance to make a significant environmental impact by helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement systems, and chemical dosing equipment.
  • Complete statutory checks as required.
  • Work safely and adhere to all Health and Safety procedures.

Base Location:

Abbey Mills - Stratford - E15 2RN

Working Pattern:

38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities potentially increasing earnings by £8-£10k.

All PPE and tools are provided.

What you should bring to the role

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Experience as a time-served apprentice with mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
