Title

Mechanical Technician


Purpose of Role

The primary focus of a Mechanical Technician involves providing comprehensive mechanical assistance in the creation, assembly, and testing of custom-designed hydrogen equipment. You play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless production and functionality of mechanical systems within our solutions in the renewable energy sector. Taking pride in accuracy and precision, you strive for continuous improvement.


Duties

  • Execute precise assembly procedures for custom-designed hydrogen equipment.
  • Perform pipe bending techniques as per design specifications, including small bore tubing and high-pressure pipework.
  • Work with pneumatic control systems, copper pipework for cooling systems, pumps, and hydraulics.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality in assembling mechanical components.
  • Collaborate with design teams to interpret technical specifications and implement design changes.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing protocols, including nitrogen purging and pressure testing.
  • Understand and work with hydraulic systems and pneumatics.
  • Test and evaluate mechanical system performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues during testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Work with engineers and designers to address mechanical challenges and improve systems.
  • Provide feedback for continuous improvement of designs and processes.
  • Follow safety protocols strictly during operations.
  • Participate in safety training and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and take pride in the workplace.

Person Specification

Skills
  • Experience as a Mechanical Technician.
  • Experience with small bore tubing, pipework, and pressure testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive with high initiative.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with small bore pipe work/pipe bending is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly and testing tools.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities.

Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or time-served apprenticeship.
  • IOSH Working Safely certification is advantageous but not essential.
