Petrofac is to hire for the position of “Mechanical Technician” to be based offshore on GP3 FPSO and the rotation is 2/3.

JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Member of a core crew team to deliver all mechanical maintenance requirements. This team will be supplemented by vendors and adhoc teams as required.
  2. This position reports directly to the Mechanical Supervisor.
  3. Commit to incident free operations.
  4. Actively support a working environment based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
  5. Participate as a member of the Mechanical Supervisor’s team in delivering Neo Energy performance against targets.
  6. Build effective working relationships with other departments and shifts.
  7. Ensure necessary preparation for relevant scheduled activities.
  8. Ensure that the underlying causes of failures are understood, and that action is taken to avoid repeat failures.
  9. Bring defects in practices, equipment, tools, protective clothing to the attention of relevant staff.
  10. Liaise with projects, vendors, and OEMs to maintain maintenance plans and documentation.
  11. Safe and efficient operation of static and rotating mechanical equipment and associated systems in accordance with the companies and other statutory requirements.
  12. Safeguarding the reliability, availability, and operational condition of static and rotating mechanical equipment and systems sufficient to meet the operational availability targets of the installation.
  13. Proficient in the use of Bolt tensioning equipment and Optical alignment equipment.
  14. Carry out isolations/de-isolations as required and perform preventive maintenance and repairs duties and tasks safely and effectively on a wide range of mechanical, utilities and associated systems and equipment.
  15. Maintain accurate and appropriate maintenance records and ensure that the data is entered into the appropriate information management systems.
  16. Raise relevant work permits in a timely manner.
  17. Duties to also incorporate engine room watch keeping.
  18. Execute duties as specified in the station/bill/emergency response procedures or as directed by the OIM.
  19. Comply with Company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures.
  20. Commit to the Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment required for the role.
  21. Undertakes day-to-day maintenance of all mechanical equipment and auxiliaries within engine rooms and other assigned areas. This is carried out in accordance with legislative requirements, company health, safety, environmental, integrity and other relevant standards and company values.
  22. Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of crew, and areas of environment pertaining to their position.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. N/SVQ Process Engineering Maintenance (mechanical) Level 3 or equivalent.
  2. Valid Abrasive wheels, Authorized Gas Tester level 1 and Flange bolting and Integrity preferred.
  3. Experience of maintenance scheduling, organizing, coordinating and controlling/monitoring work.
  4. Prior Maximo experience would be advantageous.
  5. Has a detailed knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices applicable to offshore oil and gas assets, associated technical standards, processes and relevant legislation.
  6. Experience in the control and use of “Safe Systems of Work” (PTW) including their procedures.
  7. Ability to conduct fault finding, installation, isolation and re-instatement on mechanical systems and equipment – both rotating and static.
  8. Ability to create positive relations with peers and stakeholders internally and externally.
  9. Able to carry out planned mechanical maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system.
  10. Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
