Job summary

Astute is partnering with a leading biodiesel company to appoint a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader for a COMAH site in Ellesmere Port. The role offers a starting salary up to £60,000 plus overtime and a chance to lead a skilled mechanical maintenance team on a critical site.

You will report to the Maintenance Manager, plan and supervise preventative and reactive maintenance, and drive improvements to reliability while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience maintaining mechanical systems in heavy industrial environments (chemical/oil & gas/power generation).
• Experience leading maintenance teams or supervising contractors.
• Experience using CMMS maintenance management systems.
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous; HNC in Mechanical Engineering and COMAH site experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Plan and deliver preventative, planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities.
• Ensure all maintenance tasks are accurately recorded and closed out within the CMMS.
• Manage maintenance stores, spare parts and critical equipment to maintain stock availability.
• Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the maintenance team.
• Coach, mentor and develop technicians through training, performance management and competency assessments.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, reduce downtime and control maintenance costs.
• Manage contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification and in line with company procedures.
• Work closely with the Planner and Reliability Engineer to ensure maintenance schedules are delivered on time.
• Liaise with Procurement to source cost-effective maintenance services and ensure purchasing procedures are followed.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:

• Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Plan and deliver preventative, planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities.
• Ensure all maintenance tasks are accurately recorded and closed out within the CMMS.
• Manage maintenance stores, spare parts and critical equipment to maintain stock availability.

Professional qualifications

• Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• Proven mechanical maintenance experience within the chemical, oil & gas, process, power generation or similar heavy industrial environment.
• Previous experience leading maintenance teams or supervising contractors.
• Experience using CMMS maintenance management systems.
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous. HNC in Mechanical Engineering and COMAH site experience are desirable.
