Mechanical Systems Engineer - Abingdon (Hybrid) - GBP45,000 to GBP50,000 + Benefits

Our client, a leader in scientific instrumentation design and manufacturing for over 50 years, is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to manage complex customer projects from conception through design development, validation, and product release. This role involves all aspects of the design lifecycle, ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on work and troubleshooting in manufacturing.

We are looking for candidates with a Mechanical or Physics background and 2-5 years of industry experience in design, R&D, or production engineering.

Key Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

• At least 2 years of product design and development experience, preferably related to systemized products.
• Knowledge of developing design and product specifications is desirable.
• Familiarity with FMEA, risk/hazard analysis, What If, HazOp is a plus.
• Experience in developing products and sub-assemblies.
• Strong fault analysis skills for complex systems.
• Ability to develop verification and validation methods (desirable).
• Experience in documenting and controlling detailed processes and guiding technicians during build and testing.
• Support for design reviews focusing on Manufacturing, Assembly, and Service considerations.
• Knowledge of modular design and system configuration.
• Design experience aimed at high reliability and ease of servicing.
• Product validation and testing expertise.
• Fault analysis techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys.
• CAD design experience (desirable).
• Experience with Engineering Change processes.

Additional Details:
